A career built around relationships, ambition and an entrepreneurial approach to payments.
There are certain moments in business that make you stop and look back at how far you’ve come.
For Nicholas Gould, being presented with Dojo’s Lifetime Achievement Founders Award was one of those moments.
The award recognises years of work within the payments industry, but the story behind it is about much more than sales figures or business milestones. It is about the people Nicholas has worked with, the businesses he has helped build and the relationships that have followed him throughout his career.
From PaymentSense to Dojo
When Nicholas joined PaymentSense in 2013, the role was relatively straightforward.
You sold something and you got paid.
Over the years, that changed.
Nicholas built his own business within the industry, growing it to more than half a million pounds in annual turnover and creating an opportunity to build something that could benefit his children and grandchildren.
What started as a sales role became an entrepreneurial journey.
That entrepreneurial spirit is something that comes through strongly in the messages shared by Nicholas’ colleagues, friends and family following the award.
He is described as relentless, ambitious and someone who continues to push himself and those around him.
One colleague summed it up simply: there is no merchant too big for Nicholas to go after.
More than a business relationship
Perhaps the most interesting part of the award was hearing from the people who have worked alongside Nicholas over the years.
The messages weren’t simply about business achievements.
They talked about his optimism, his determination and the relationships he has built throughout his career.
There were stories of setbacks, getting back up, signing customers, building referrals and eventually taking on bigger and bigger opportunities.
That journey has continued to shape the way Nicholas approaches business today.
For him, payments have never just been about the technology.
They are about understanding businesses, building trust and finding opportunities to do things better.
A family journey too
The story has also extended beyond business.
Nicholas’ family spoke about watching his work ethic and achievements over the years, and the example that has set for the next generation.
His journey has given him the opportunity to build wealth for his children and grandchildren, while also bringing family into the business itself.
That makes the award particularly meaningful.
It isn’t just recognition of what Nicholas has achieved personally. It is recognition of a journey that has had an impact on the people around him too.
The story isn’t over
Perhaps the most fitting message came from a long-standing colleague who reflected on everything Nicholas has built and finished with a simple thought:
The story has not ended yet.
And that feels right.
The Lifetime Achievement Founders Award is recognition of everything that has already been achieved.
It isn’t a full stop.
There are still businesses to work with, relationships to build and opportunities to pursue.
At Omnigo, we’re proud to have Nicholas at the heart of the business and proud to share this moment with him.
Congratulations, Nicholas.
